Rourkela: A 40-year-old man from Jharsuguda died after an autorickshaw in which he was travelling was hit by an unidentified car in an area under Sadar police station limits in Sundargarh district on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Bhupendra Singh, a resident of Pandripathar Marakuta village in Jharsuguda.
Singh was on his way to Dharuadih when the car dashed into the auto. The injured passengers and the auto driver were shifted to the Govt Medical College and Hospital, Sundargarh, where doctors declared Singh brought dead.
After being alerted, Sadar police reached the spot and conducted an inquiry. Police have registered a case.
"We are verifying CCTV footage near the site to identify the car ," said Mitrabhanu Naik, assistant sub-inspector of Sadar police station.
Post-mortem was conducted on Wednesday afternoon and Singh's body handed over to his family members.
